Morning ‘Go-Go’ Minerals

One of the most popular health tips I give is the morning mineral recipe or more commonly known as the mineral mock tail. These tiny nutrients have a HUGE impact on the body, and most Americans need to increase their daily amount. We no longer get as many minerals from our soil and food, and we are burning through the small amount of minerals we do get. It’s my favorite tip because most clients start to feel a difference in a matter of weeks so if you are feeling drained read on!

There are several different recipes and combinations that I recommend based off a client’s nutrient labs, but in general the recipe below is a good place to start. The only time I wouldn’t recommend this combination is for someone who has been diagnosed with high blood pressure. Otherwise load up on the minerals because I’d bet my last Oreo that you need it!

My personal routine:

Easy Morning Mock-tail

-4-6 ounces of orange juice

-1 scoop of Adrenal Cocktail by Jigsaw Health

-1 spoonful of Vital Proteins Collagen powder

***Mix all together and drink within 30 minutes of waking up

Evening Mock-tail

-1 scoop of Magnesium Soothe by Jigsaw Health

***Mix in water and drink an hour before bedtime

Why these ingredients?

Orange juice: I like the taste with the mix. The adrenal mix is salty so putting it with just water can taste like the ocean. It also gives you a little glucose so you aren’t running on fumes.

Adrenal Cocktail by Jigsaw Health: Easy is the name of the game for me in the morning and just a scoop is easy. You can add things like pink salt (sodium) and cream of tartar (potassium) to OJ if you don’t have the mix. All of the ingredients in this mix support adrenal function, energy production and helps balance cortisol.

Vital Protein Collagen Powder: I like to add protein to juice to help balance blood sugar. If I am not hungry in the morning and can only stomach the mock-tail, adding protein is a must. If I am going to eat after the drink then I’ll sometimes exclude it. Blood sugar balance is important for weight balance and weight loss.

Magnesium at night: This mineral is so important for overall health, but my favorite role is supporting the liver. The liver is one of our ‘detox’ organs and if it is not happy, mamma is not happy. The liver helps move things along (so if you are constipated run to get magnesium ASAP). When garbage is trying to get out of the body it will be processed by the liver. If the liver is backed up it will send the garbage else where in the body to be stored (inflammation). We don’t need garbage stored anywhere!

Other add ons:

I add 1 drop of Vitamin A and 1 drop of olive oil a few days week for two reasons:

1) I struggle with acne. Vitamin A is vital to decrease breakouts for my type of acne, and I don’t get enough of it in food. Be careful with this nutrient since it is fat soluble it can be toxic. Just 1 drop a few times a week is all I need right now!

2) I have recently discontinued birth control. This is because I have been using BC to mask period probs and acne issues for years. There isn’t anything wrong with using medication to decrease symptoms, I was just at a point where the BC was causing more problems than solving. Finding the root problem is important for this season of life so I’m on this fun post BC rollercoaster.

P.S. There are ways to support your body while on birth control like taking a prenatal vitamin and things you can do if you decide to go off of it!

Hopefully you start to love the minerals as much as I do. It’s the little things every day that make the biggest difference in your health (cliche, but true).
