How to handle the holidays…

I actually wanted to start this email with HAPPY HOLIDAYS, but I didn’t want to scare you off :) Even ME who is the MOST Christmas girl of all is having a hard time with the overwhelming about of holiday content on the internet already…

Which led me to think that some of you are already stressing about your health this holiday season. We are surrounded by parties, jam packed schedules, cookie exchanges and we rarely take time for ourselves as we round down the final days of the year.

Sound familiar? Same. Every year I want to truly be present for the holidays, and I usually find myself napping the entire Thanksgiving just to catch up on sleep. But this year. THIS year will be different.

How you ask? Well, we are simply going to decide to make time right now. Start making the habits or better yet— continue the habits you have already created. Make a safety net around you so when the constant holiday hustle comes knocking you’re prepared to keep your boundaries.

But again…HOW? I can already hear that question in my own head. I’ve actually started with a checklist method. I’m talking old school excel sheet that I printed out and started to check off. It’s the daily discipline that creates the daily habits, right? Plus, my spinning brain really appreciates ONE thing to focus on. Even though the checklist has multiple tasks, I can continue to go back to the one check list when I feel like I’m getting off track or losing traction.

I adjust my checklist each month to adapt to the seasons, but it always has the core tasks that stay in place. Things like morning minerals, walking, seeing the sun and drinking my greens. It also has reading, journaling and praying. Of course there is a work section as well because I love work, but I put that down the list so it doesn’t sneak into my first priority area.

I know this seems simple and not enough to combat the craziness of the end of the year, but simple doesn’t mean it’s not effective. Give it a try and let me know what you think. I want you to enjoy the holidays and not be consumed by them.

Trust me you got this.

xoxo,

Kels
