1) Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40. You may have heard me talk about my post acne birth control (you can read more on that here and what I did to clear it), but to give a quick summary I have battled acne pretty much my entire 20s. So, to say I have tried EVERY foundation on the market feels like an understatement. I have tried heavy make-up to cover everything up, acne made make up that contains saclyic acid (which just dried my skin and made it even worse) and powder make up that isn’t supposed to clog pores. Not to mention I have been dancing and teaching pure barre during my 20s as well, so I was sweating, but didn’t feel comfortable going make up free because of the breakouts. I know some of you are FEELING me right now.

I finally landed on the Ilia Skin tint foundation for daily use, and I haven’t looked back. It has enough coverage to make you feel finished, enough moisture to give you a dewier look without looking greasy and it lasts all day. Oh, and did I mention it doesn’t cause me to breakout even when I teach in it? It’s also certified clean, so I feel comfortable wearing it daily regardless of what I am doing. It’s hands down the best foundation I have tried, and it will be really hard to beat. I’m also a place in my life where I like a more natural look so if you are someone who likes to wear MAC or full coverage make up, you may want to try their full foundation, but for the day look friends out there this is your match!

2) Reflect Effect Overnight Resurfacing Peel. First, I’d to to preface this with I wish I could use all beauty counter products because I love the quality and smell, but for some reason the face wash and moisturizers don’t do well for my skin. I use face reality for wash and moisturizer even though it’s not certified clean. You must pick your battles, right? BUT I do love BC resurfacing serum for a weekly reset. I have sensitive skin so exfoliation can be too much, or overuse of product can damage my skin barrier, but once a week has been a good fit. I typically use it on Sunday nights to reset for the week.

3) Trader Joe’s Lavender Scrub. This is honestly like shower lotion if you’re asking me. It does exfoliate with the scrub and stimulates the lymphatic system when used (like dry brushing), but it also has a few oils to moisturize the skin. I HATE getting out of the shower extremely dry so I love this stuff. If you’re someone who doesn’t like to feel greasy at all before putting clothes on this probably isn’t for you. If you’re like me where everything needs to be fully moisturized before touching any fabric, you’ll love it. I also loved that it was only $6 since most clean scrubs are upwards towards $50. Joe always coming in clutch with a good find.

4) Ilia Mascara. Clean mascara is a tough one because it never seems to stay all day, but this brand has outlasted others I have tried. I will use their last extending mascara first and then the volumizing to add length andddd volume. I have tried beauty counter’s newest mascara and it will for sure last you all day. However, they have only a lengthening version and it’s pretty hard to wipe off at the end of the day (at least when I tried it when it first came out). When I buy a brand new mascara I’ll put the old one (if it’s not TOO old) in my purse for a touch up in the afternoon if needed.

5) Ilia Multi-Stick. This gives my face LIFE. I’m not a make-up artist so I don’t really know if that’s how it works, but once I use the blush stick I feel like my day look is complete. I can also use it as lip color, which is convenient and one of the main products women get toxins in their systems…. I mean think about… you have lip gloss or lipstick that has arsenic, chemicals, dyes etc. and you’re drinking, talking or whatever the day brings, and you will be swallowing some of that. Sounds kind of gross, but it does happen and then we reapply. I used to roll my eyes at that kind of stuff because I thought our bodies are tough enough to metabolize it, but it turns out it can build up on the body. I see it all the time on the HTMA tests, and I even saw a little bit of arsenic on my own when I first did it a few years ago. Once I saw the proof I slowly, but surely started to switch all my beauty products.

6) Beauty Counter Eyeliner. Eyeliner is another common product that contributes to toxin load in the body especially if you put eyeliner on the inside (under the lashes). I like this color and that it stays most of the day. If I put it on the bottom lash when it’s humid it can run some, but my eyes also tend to water more so I just struggle with eyeliner running sometimes. Turns out you just can’t always keep your make up perfect! And if your make up is so ‘permanent’ it doesn’t move at all during the day, it probably is loaded with chemicals. So, you just have to choose what is most important to you!

7) Beauty Counter Eyebrow Pencil. Again, simple and does the job. It’s not too expensive and has lasted me several months. I wish their gel was a little darker because I like the look, but it doesn’t quite have that effect, so I choose the pencil.

8) GLO Foundation Powder: I used this for a while before I found Ilia and it also was great for workouts and an acne safe (at least for me) option. It’s light to medium coverage and I now use it as a setting powder or stand-alone foundation. This one is more expensive, but because I don’t use it as my main foundation anymore it lasts me several months. Now that my acne is more controlled, I will sometimes dust just this foundation on after moisturizer before I go teach a pure barre class!

9) Super GOOP sheer glow. I just started using this recently, but I am impressed so far. Now that I have been able to clear my skin and only get a few little zits now and then, I feel comfortable using a product that gives light coverage. It has SPF and zinc to protect the skin barrier with a touch of glow. So, it gives a bit of a dewy look that I like these days. I used to be straight up MATTE. I didn’t want a touch of oil or dew in my look, but I think that’s because I was battling so much acne. I have more appreciation for it these days.

10) Sheer Genius Conditioning Lipstick: Sheer. I got the sheer because I like a light lip color, but this is exactly as it says. SHEER so it’s a fancy lip conditioner, but I still LOVE it. It smells great and give a moisture look. Next time I’ll buy a pinker shade so there is color, but this product regardless is a staple in my make up bag. As I mentioned before having a ‘clean’ lip product is high on my priority list because of how often in can get into our system so it’s worth the investment. Beauty counter also has sales a few times a year that I’ll wait for an stock up on my favorite products. I’m not a representative so I don’t have all the details, but I encourage you to find one and support their small business of being a BC rep!
