My client had to STOP taking Vitamin D for her metabolism

vitamin D, metabolism, thyroid health, gut health, fatigue, adrenal fatigue

My client was shocked when I told her to stop taking vitamin D.

This client came to me with fatigue, moodiness and stomach pain. She had tried sooo many meds, supplements and the Whole30 diet multiple times to try to resolve her issues.

And she would even go to the doctor’s office every few months trying to get any answer, but all the tests came back normal.

Two main reasons why it was still low…

#1 There are 2 types of vitamin D. Inactive form and active form. Most blood tests I see only show the inactive form so you don’t realllllly know how much Vitamin D is in the body. We always order both forms of Vitamin D on blood tests.

#2 To activate Vitamin D, you must have an adequate amount of magnesium. That means even if you take Vitamin D every day this winter, but you don’t also eat magnesium rich foods it could just build up in the body in the inactive form (which isn’t helpful)

It’s a story that I hear time and time again. I hate that so many people are dismissed, but the good news? We ALWAYS find things they can adjust so they start to see improvement. And for this client one big change was STOPPING her vitamin D.

Crazy, right? But after looking at her blood and mineral tests, I knew this was contributing to her stomach pain, fatigue and was slowing her thyroid. Her gut & thyroid was functioning so poorly that the extra Vitamin D that her body didn’t need was adding fuel to the fire.

By taking away vitamin D, adding specific minerals and nutrients, she FINALLY started to see results. We had a strategy that included nutrients that would help her thyroid and her gut health.

While it may seem like a small adjustment it was actually a huge shift for her body and why it is SO important to test instead of guess with supplements. We already have enough stress on our thyroid that we don’t need to make the wrong supplements be one of them!
