3 Mistakes I made while trying to ‘get fit’

3 mistakes I made when I was trying to “get fit”. I cringe when I think about what I used to do.

Mistake #1: Do not restrict yourself to a certain calories count. This not only creates shame when you go over, but it doesn’t allow you to listen to your body when it needs more nutrients. You’re letting numbers be in charge instead of your health.

Mistake #2: I took pictures DAILY. There is nothing wrong with having something measurable, but I would stand in the mirror every day LOOKING for change, and I was missing what was actually happening, which was more than just if I had abs or not. Change and growth comes from mindset, how much energy you have, certain lab tests if you want to be nerdy, sleep quality etc.

Mistake #3: I let other people set my standards, and I created an unrealistic expectation for myself that allowed me to fail time and time again. I am a 5’1”, square hip, short torso kinda of gal. I will never be a tall, long torso with blonde hair kind of girl. Believe me I tried to go all blonde. It didn’t work. The point is that I didn’t find the joy in what I already was and what I could be (in and out). I was creating an unrealistic goal that was making me miss the good that was already there!

So, be sure to look beyond the calories, use more than one way to measure your progress and set goals for YOU not for what you think other people want from you.

1:1 Coaching Program

This 4-month program is designed to help you find the root cause of your symptoms. So instead of a bandaid approach, we dive deep into what is going on inside and outside of YOUR body. Too many times we see weight loss resistance as a problem instead of a symptom. Conventional medicine tells you to eat less, do more to ‘fix’ your metabolism and functional medicine finds out WHY you have weight loss resistance in the first place.
