Weight Loss: How Fatigue Can Slow Your Results

Most people do not relate chronic fatigue with weight loss. More often than not, when you start to lose weight you actually feel MORE energy. However, if you lose weight on an extreme restrictive diet (and not enough nutrients) for a long period of time, that diet can actually lead to chronic fatigue. So it’s important to note when fatigue becomes a daily feeling.
It’s also important to note that chronic fatigue can be a sign of poor digestion, not getting enough minerals, a slow thyroid & adrenals, which all play a role in metabolism. So while long-term restriction can cause fatigue, it can also create more issues that we also need address before trying to lose weight again.
Here is a typical scenario I see with clients. The client comes to me because they want to learn how to have more energy, decrease bloating and eventually lose weight. We go through their history, and we find that over the last several years they have been under eating whether they meant to or not. It’s very common with the women I see to not be eating enough because they are very goal driven, busy and put themselves on the back burner. We also can see this with their labs tests. I typical trend I see is low minerals, high insulin and slow thyroid hormones.
This is actually why I created a REST & RESTORE phase in my programs so that clients can repair their metabolism BEFORE trying weight loss again. This makes weight loss more possible and prepares their body for it. Did you know weight loss is actually stressful on the body? While it’s not a bad thing to want weight loss, it can be a bad thing for your body to lose weight when it’s not ready for it.
I know that can seem backwards, but remember our bodies are designed to SURVIVE. So if you’re chronically tired due to under eating/dieting for long periods, poor digestion and/or have an under active thyroid, your body will not prioritize weight loss. So again, that’s why paying attention to chronic fatigue is so important and not something to always “push through”
If this sounds like you, the best thing you can do is start to figure out WHY you are so fatigued and start healing from there. That is exactly what I do in my introductory package: Metabolism Starter Pack. It’s designed to help clients figure out WHY they have weight loss resistance, fatigue and gut issues so we can create a strategy for THEIR body. It’s been a really fun journey with each of my clients, and I’d love to help you with yours too!
